12 years of a slave

It is a film that is haunted by history of moral and cultural transgressions. What is extraordinary about this film is the art and exquisiteness in its serenity. Steve McQueen has directed a devastatingly shocking and truly important film. Solomon Northup(Chiwetel Ejiofor), a New York State citizen is kidnapped and forced to work on a plantation in the New Orleans in the 1800s. It is based in part on Northup’s memoir. It stars Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender, Sarah Paulson, Benedict Cumberbatch and Paul Giamatti.

Despicable Me 2

This is sequel to the 3D animated movie ‘Despicable Me’. The film was distributed by Universal Pictures. In this movie, Gru is recruited by the Anti Villain League to help track and identify a powerful new super criminal. The movie reviews for Despicable Me 2 are positive and it has become the 10th biggest animated film in US history.

Captain Phillips

Captain Phillips is an examination of the 2009 hijacking of a US container ship Maersk Alabama by Somali pirates. It is simultaneously an amazing thriller, and a complex description of the numerous effects of globalization. The movie focuses on the relationship between Captain Richard Phillips (Tom Hanks), the Alabama’s commanding officer and the Somali pirate crew captain, Muse.

Pacific Rim is a holiday film for family outings. Pacific Rim is a war film set in the near future and it resembles the grim worlds to come in Blade Runner and Alien in its blend of high technology with social and cultural dilapidation.
